Pregnancy Q & A

When should I make an appointment for pregnancy?

Make an appointment at the office of Diego Ramirez OBGYN PLLC as soon as you suspect you’re pregnant, or even in the months prior to trying.

Dr. Ramirez offers family planning and prenatal counseling that starts from the moment of conception. He cares about your needs as an individual, treating you with respect and dignity while answering any and all questions you may have. You receive the highest level of prenatal care whether this is your first pregnancy or your fifth.

At your first appointment, you undergo a simple blood test to confirm your pregnancy, and Dr. Ramirez makes an estimation of your prospective due date.

What special pregnancy care is available?

Your exceptional care includes routine and specialized pregnancy support. The services offered include:

  • Genetic screening and prenatal counseling
  • Fetal monitoring
  • Ultrasound imaging
  • Fetal well-being assessments

Dr. Ramirez ensures your health and your baby’s health through each phase of your prenatal care. He is also there for you at delivery, whether that’s via vaginal, cesarean section, or operative delivery. If after delivery, you decide your family is complete, Dr. Ramirez offers postpartum tubal ligation.

What support is available for a high-risk pregnancy?

Your pregnancy may be deemed as “high-risk” if you or your baby have certain health conditions. These may develop during pregnancy, or you may enter pregnancy with them. High-risk issues include:

  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • History of preterm labor
  • Previous pregnancy complications
  • Preeclampsia or high blood pressure
  • Hypertension
  • A history of diabetes or the development of gestational diabetes
  • Multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets, or higher order of multiples)
  • Advanced maternal age (35 or older)

You may also fall into a high-risk pregnancy category if certain complications develop during your pregnancy, such as:

  • Abnormal placenta position
  • Fetal growth abnormalities
  • Rh sensitization
  • Genetic issues

You receive support throughout your pregnancy to avoid complications, and if they do arise, they’re dealt with professionally, expertly, and as effectively as possible.
